Via Ferrata Brigata Tridentina

This very popular Via Ferrata is easily accessible from the village of Corvara as it is situated on the Sella massif, the enormouns block that can be defined as the beating heart of the Dolomites.

The Sella Group is a natural playground for hikers and climbers during the summer months and for freeriders in search of powder in the winter months.

The departure point is a car park just below the Gardena Pass which is reachable by bus from Corvara. In less than 10 minutes, you will find yourself at the start of the Via Ferrata. The unmistakable route involves about 750 m of climbing and we promise it will be an experience that you won't easily forget!

The path snakes up exposed sections, leads you up vertically side by side with a plunging waterfall, challenges you on traverses, ladders, steel cables and all that on great rock and in conditions of safety.

The highlight will certainly be when you reach the top of the Exner Tower and you will have to cross the spectacular suspension bridge connecting the Tower to the main rock.

Once crossed the bridge, you will reach the Rifugio Pisciadú after only a short hike. Sit down, enjoy the superb views and maybe treat yourself to one of the simple but good dishes prepared so far away from civilization.

We recommend

  • This via ferrata is for those who are sure-footed and free from vertigo, we would classify it as intermediate. There are two different routes to choose from for the descent.
  • The short, initially secured route, will take you through the narrow and steep, underworld-like Val Setus. You will reach the car park from where you started.
  • The route we recommend is the longer one that takes you through the Val de Mezdí. The path unwinds along a wide valley and you find yourself surrounded by spectacular walls and towering rocks. Keep walking until you will reach the village of Corvara.
