HIKING

Hiking-PralongiàThe Pralongiá Plateau

This gentle but divinely located walk is easily accessible from the village of Corvara from where you can take the Col Alto gondola in order to reach a certain height.

From here, in every direction you turn, you will be surrounded by majestic and differently shaped peaks. The Sassongher and the Sella Group will dominate the scenery in front of you.

Start walking downhill for a short while and then follow the signs uphill to Arlara. Once you reach the Arlara hill, there will only be you and the vast green highland with it's soft and gentle curves in front of you.

Following the well marked trails to Pralongiá, you will walk along flower filled meadows and peacefully grassing cows.

As the terrain is really easy and the views breathtaking, you will have reached the Pralongiá Rifugio before you realise it. I am sure you will have noticed by now the snowy mountain just in front of you.

This is the Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites, a glacier dating back to the last ice age. If you turn around, you will see the towering beauty of Sass dla Crusc and La Varella.

Well, you have now got the chance to let yourself down on the terrace and simply enjoy the views, sip on a well-earned cool drink while consciously breathing in the fresh mountain air.

We recommend

  • Ideal hike for families as the area extends around Corvara and the Passo Campolongo, you will have the chance to walk back to the village anytime. The hike will last as long as you please.
  • As this is a really well known and busy area in the winter-time, you will find many so called “Rifugios”on your way. These are welcoming and hearty alpine Tyrolean-style mountain huts serving delicious traditional meals; the right place to relax, enjoy the surroundings and restore your challenged body.
